OCD Inspirational Conference 
The Riverside Centre in Derby on Saturday 18th October 2008

Our inspirational OCD conference promises something different with a focus on the artistic talents of people with OCD. Featuring keynote lectures by world renowned OCD experts including, Professor Paul M. Salkovskis and Dr Raj Persaud from the Institute of Psychiatry our conference will be interspersed with poetry readings by OCD sufferers reading their own poetry, and featuring a live performance by OCD sufferer and live singer Karley who will perform her song Sometimes.

The event is priced at £15 for OCD-UK members, and just £9 for each family/friend you wish to bring along. Example, one OCD-UK member and their partner, total price for both would be £24, one member and two parents for example the total cost would be £33. There is an optional lunch choice for £8 per person.

Non OCD-UK members are charged at £25 per person.

All attendees will also be served with tea and fair trade coffee upon arrival and mid morning and afternoon. The full conference agenda and list of speakers will be available on the main OCD-UK website from August. The event will start at 10am, and finish at 4:30pm. Our AGM will then commence from 4:45pm for those members who wish to attend.

Our Venue

Our conference takes place in Derby, the heart of the Midlands and is just 10 minutes walk from Derby mainline train station which offers superb road, rail and air travel access offering direct trains from Scotland, London, Plymouth and all points in between and just 5 minutes drive from J25 of the M1 for those planning to drive down. With a bus ride of less than 30 minutes from East Midlands Airport you can even fly down, meaning there are so many travel options, it will be difficult to find a reason not to attend!

Optional - Lunch Menu

In order to keep the conference costs down, and being conscious of the fact that not everyone is able to eat in public places due to the nature of their illness we are not including lunch as standard, however it will be available as an optional extra charged at £8 per person for those that wish to order in advance. We are regrettably unable to take food orders on the day, so we do require all food bookings prior to the 1st October.

Alternatively off site there is a Frankie and Benny's resturant, Subway and a Harvester restaurant within 5 minutes walk, and within 5 minutes drive (approx 15-20 min walk each way) there is a retail park with plenty of options including Sainsbury's Restaurant, McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut and a KFC. We will provide directions to these on the day, subject to their opening times.

 

Tickets

In order to keep the costs down we will only be sending out email confirmations of your booking, when arriving at our conference venue please go straight to our registration desk on where you will be required to quote the booking name.

Accommodation

Your booking confirmation will include details of nearby accommodation Our conference venue has two different hotels within 5 minutes walking time, and others within 5 minutes drive. The venue we have chosen is approx 15-20 minutes walk from the City Centre, so city centre accommodation may also be suitable.

 

Bookings Terms and Conditions

All booking bookings will only be confirmed once payment is received. Confirmations will be sent by email, unless otherwise requested. Refunds, less a 20% administration fee will be made if cancellations are received (email or postal) before 1st October 2008. Refunds, less 50% will be made to cancellations received between 1st-15th October. We are regretfully unable to issue refunds to any cancellations received less than two days prior to the event. We are unable to issue refunds due to non attendance, however substitute delegates are welcomed. Optional food bookings will be refunded in full if confirmation is received before 1st October, after that date we are unable to offer any refunds on food ordered.
