What is Gift Aid?

Cash - every penny will help usIn April 2000, the Gift Aid scheme was extended to apply to any donation of any value, regular or one off, allowing charities to claim tax relief at the basic rate on donations made by individuals – that’s an extra 28% on your donation, so OCD-UK will get an extra 28p for every pound that you give!

Gift Aid allows OCD-UK to reclaim the basic rate of tax from the Inland Revenue on your donations. This means that the charity can increase the value of your gift by almost a third at no extra cost to yourself!

All that is required is a one off declaration that can be made by post, fax, orally or via the email form below.

You must however, have paid an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax that we will reclaim on your donation in the tax year that your gift is received. For example, if you donate £100 in the current tax year, OCD-UK could claim back £28.21 from the Inland Revenue. To qualify for Gift Aid you must have paid £28.21 over the course of the year.

If you pay tax at the higher rate you are also entitled to claim further tax relief in your annual Self-Assessment tax return.

Should your circumstances change or you no longer wish to subscribe to the scheme, then you can cancel your declaration at any time either by phone or in writing

Please also notify us of any changes in name and address by contacting us anytime.

If you are still unsure whether your donations qualify for Gift Aid tax relief, then please do not hesitate to contact us on 0870 126 9506, or you can contact the Inland Revenue directly by phone on their Gift Aid help line 0151 472 6038 or online at their website.
