Donating through a self assessment tax return

Cash - every penny will help usIf you are completing a self assessment tax return, you can nominate a charity to receive any tax refund you are due.

The scheme is open to UK taxpayers only and will first apply for tax returns for the year to 5 April 2004 and beyond.

The Government will treat this refund as a Gift Aid donation. This means that OCD-UK will get 28p more for every pound donated – at no extra cost to you.

Gift Aid allows OCD-UK to reclaim the basic rate of tax from the Inland Revenue on your donations. This means that the charity can increase the value of your gift by almost a third at no extra cost to yourself!

What you need to do:
If you wish to give all of your repayment simply tick box 19A.1.1 or to specify an amount simply enter that amount in box 19A.2.

To ensure OCD-UK receives your tax refund, please include the charity's unique identifier number on the tax return form. This number is AAR08PG and should be entered into box 19A.3.

Also ensure that you choose to enable Gift Aid by ticking box 19A.4.

If you make a donation using Gift Aid and you are a higher rate taxpayer then you can claim further relief on this in your tax return for 2005/06 (next tax year).

Your donation will be entirely anonymous to OCD-UK unless you tell the Inland Revenue to pass your details on by ticking box 19A.5.

Whatever you decide to do today, thank you for your support, it is truly appreciated.
