Always looking to be fresh and innovative in our attempts to raise awareness, OCD-UK will embark on a national awareness tour of the country during 2008.
Starting in Dundee on the 12th February and culminating with roadshow's across the East Midlands during October. We hope this will be a precursor to a larger scale awareness roadshow in 2010.
Each roadshow will consist of three parts: pre event media
awareness will allow us to pro-actively encourage local media to run OCD features in their publications/shows and allow us to promote our roadshow in their area.
The main priority for our awareness campaign in 2008 is to highlight a lack of understanding of the condition and to change the perception of and highlight the fact that OCD is more than washing or checking, but also regardless of the form of OCD, that it can be an extremely debilitating illness.
The roadshow itself will be split into two parts. During the daytime anybody with an interest in OCD can come along to our 'drop in' open day and meet with others with the condition, chat to our volunteers, pick up leaflets and self-help materials.
The evening will be open for sufferers (and family) where OCD-UK will facilitate a support group.
Attendance at any of our roadshow's will be completely free of charge and is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about, and meet other people affected by Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
Have a look at our itinerary on the right to see if the roadshow will be coming to a town centre near you! And if you would like us to visit a town near you in subsequent years, please do get in touch.
New locations may be added subject to funding and availability throughout the year so please look out for itinerary updates.
The aims of our roadshow are to:
Raise awareness of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Provide support and educational opportunities
At the roadshow you will be able to:
Pick up our range of OCD leaflets and publications
Meet and chat to people with the condition
Take part in a facilitated support group
Meet representatives of the charity
Purchase self-help materials
If you would like to find out more or wish to volunteer to help out at any of our events, please contact us at admin@ocduk.org
