OCD-UK Ensuring Confidence In Volunteers
OCD-UK is committed to ensuring that all individuals that come into contact with OCD-UK are kept safe and can have confidence in knowing that OCD-UK only allow the most appropriate of individuals to volunteer for our charity.
Checks or screening may seem intrusive but are necessary for the following reasons:
These will be Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) standard check and / or Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) check. This will be discussed with you upon your application and OCD-UK will provide application guidance and there will usually be no cost to the volunteer.
From October 2009, when we recruit someone to work with children or vulnerable adults, by law we will be required to check their ISA status. OCD-UK go further than this and will also insist on a CRB check for many of our roles.
The Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) has been created to help prevent unsuitable people from working with children and vulnerable adults.
Having a criminal record does not necessarily prevent someone from volunteering for OCD-UK. It depends on the nature of the position applied for, and the circumstances and background of the offences.
