2021 Virtual OCD-UK Conference - Welcome to Hotel OCD-UK, flying the flag for recovery!

An Introduction to Meditation

 Saturday 27th November 2021
 11:45am - 12:15pm

Presentation subject

This session will have two short meditations with some time in-between for questions. The focus of the first meditation will be on learning to be with our self without expectation while feeling anxious. The second meditation will focus on learning to feel safe in our bodies, through grounding and being in the present moment. The meditations will not be about how to deal with OCD specifically but how to better navigate anxiety and to feel safer in our bodies in day to day life.
About the speaker

Hi I am Tim I am a grateful attendee to OCD-UK's zoom support groups. I have found a lot of healing by attending regularly to the groups and really wanted to give something back to the community that has helped me so much! In terms of qualifications I am a trained Qigong teacher with the Shiatsu college. Qigong is a practice that involves mindful movement and connection to the body and the environment surrounding it. Its a deeply healing practice and has given me so much, meditation is a key part of it. I have also trained with the MISP (mindfulness in schools project) to teach mindfulness to 7 - 11 year olds. Before that I have been meditating for years as love the peace it brings!

OCD is still a daily struggle for me and there is certainly some more specific OCD related work I need to do so I am hoping the conference can give me some more help in that area. But I definitely believe that any work we can do in the direction of learning to look after and be kind to ourselves makes a big difference and can help us in ways we don't at first expect!

This workshop will NOT be recorded or made available post conference.
