Please Note: Our venue is the University Park campus of the University of Nottingham. Be aware that there are multiple University of Nottingham campuses around the city (Jubilee, Sutton Bonington for example) and is also not to be confused with Nottingham Trent University in the city centre. Please follow the information on this page to find our venue.

Getting to our venue

There are two national rail train stations that serve the University campus, and are run by East Midlands Railway:

Regular train services operate between Nottingham Station and London St Pancras, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield. Beeston is also served by some trains from London and other East Midlands services such as Birmingham, Derby, Leicester, East Midlands Parkway and Lincoln. For information on train tickets and timetables visit the National Rail Enquiries website. Train travel is generally cheaper if you are flexible about when you travel and if you book your tickets in advance through train companies directly such as East Midlands Railway, rather than third party train websites that charge booking fees for the same travel tickets.

Nottingham Train Station to the University
Nottingham train station is in the city centre and approximately four miles and a 15 minutes taxi ride to the Monica Partridge Building (our conference venue) on the University Campus. Using public transport the quickest and recommended option is to use the local Nottingham tram, the university campus is also served by local busses.

The local Nottingham tram directly links the station to the university campus from Nottingham train station.

Going to the conference: Board the tram going to 'Toton Lane' and either leave the tram at either the University of Nottingham tram stop, or the University Boulevard tram stop.

After the conference: Board the tram heading to 'Hucknall' and leave the tram at the 'Nottingham Station' tram stop, the tram then continues into the city centre if you are looking to have a meal before leaving the city. Please note Nottingham Forest are scheduled to playing Leeds that day, so after the conference the station may still be busy.

Local Nottingham City Transport (NCT) bus: Nottingham train station is served by local busses that run between the station and the university campus.

Beeston Train Station to the University
Beeston train station is the closest train station to the University Park Campus and approximately 3.3 miles and a 10 minute taxi ride to the Monica Partridge Building (our conference venue) on the University Campus. If using public transport and unfamiliar with the area it may be easier to continue on the train to Nottingham Train Centre with the tram stop directly adjoining the station.

The local tram network links the university campus from Beeston town centre which is about a 10 minute walk from Beeston train station.

Going to the conference: Board the tram going to 'Hucknall' and either leave the tram at either the University of Nottingham tram stop, or the University Boulevard tram stop.

After the conference: Board the tram going to 'Toton lane' and leave the tram at either the Middle Street tram stop, or the Beeston centre tram stop.

The local Nottingham tram directly links the station to the university campus from Nottingham train station with services every 7-10 minutes on a Saturday.

All tram travel is 'buy before you board', so please ensure you buy a ticket from the ticket machine, or use the app before getting on a tram. At the time of writing this page (July 2025), tickets cost £5.50 for an adult day ticket (which is cheaper than two singles). Concession prices may also be available. Tickets can be purchased on the day from the machines (example pictured) or by downloading the NetGo! app and buying from your phone.

Getting the tram to the conference

There are two tram stops approximately 10-15 minutes walk away from the Monica Partridge building on the University campus.

Going to the conference: There are two different tram lines in Nottingham, and the tram line you will need to use is the Toton Lane - Hucknall tram line. So depending where you are boarding, the tram will display either Toton Lane or Hucknall. For example if boarding at Nottingham train station to go to the conference, the tram will display Toton Lane. When you return from the conference you will be catching tram going to Hucknall. Please note Nottingham Forest are scheduled to playing Leeds that day, so after the conference the tram stop at Nottingham train station may be busy.

The university campus is situated close to the A52 and about three miles from junction 25 of the M1. There is some parking near the building, with hundreds more spaces around the University campus. Parking is free at the weekend, and you will not need to register your car with university security.

The main visitor car park is a little further away from the Monica Partridge Building but well signposted and has good capacity – it’s the area marked VP (visitor parking) next to building 16 (Sir Clive Granger) on the campus map, grid reference E2.

We would also recommend considering parking at the local tram park and ride at Toton Lane (NG9 7JA) which offers free car parking for 1,400 cars just off the A52 and about 3 minutes from junction 25 of the M1. Trams run every 7-10 minutes with a journey time of around 15 minutes to the university.

About our venue

The Monica Partridge building is located within University Park, the University of Nottingham’s largest campus at 300 acres. Part of the University since 1929, the campus is widely regarded as one of the largest and most attractive in the country and has been ranked third in the world in a list of the most sustainable universities.

Set in extensive greenery and around a lake, University Park is the focus of life for students, staff and visitors. Conference guests are welcome to enjoy the walks, parks and gardens in the University’s landscaped settings which feature, long-established woodland, contemporary gardens and the Millennium Garden (pictured) - a quiet, reflective place in which to escape the hustle and bustle of campus life.

The overall style of University Park might be described as ‘English Landscape’. Although no area is authentically eighteenth century, it has the main parkland components of rolling grassland, individual and clumped trees, shrub groups, long grass 'wild' areas which encourage biodiversity different plant species from around the world, reflecting the international nature of the university.

The Orchard Hotel & Restaurant is the nearest hotel to our venue, situated on the university campus grounds, and just a short five minute walk through Millennium garden to our venue.
