Your NHS Treatment Experiences

Whilst working with you across our different services, we have noticed some problematic trends with how some NHS providers deliver services for people with OCD. In order to influence change, we need to get a better idea of how widespread some of these problems are. Please answer any of these four questions that apply.

Step 1 of 5

Have you been forced to delay going on a NHS waiting list?
Have you been forced to delay going on a NHS waiting list?
Have you been told you must wait at least three months before you are allowed to go back on a waiting list for another course of therapy? This is frequently something we hear about within NHS Talking Therapy services (formerly IAPT), and goes against clinical recommendations.
Please provide details of what happened, including any approx dates.
Please provide the name of the NHS service that this relates to. For example Talking Therapies in x Town. Understand which services might need feedback is important if we are to influence change. Please be as accurate as possible. If you are not sure, please provide your location (town) and we may be able to work out which service this relates to.
Have you been forced to complete online course before being offered CBT?

Have you been told you cannot access CBT before first completing an anxiety management group or an online programme like Silvercloud? This is frequently something we hear about within NHS Talking Therapy services.

Have you been told you must have an ADHD or Autism assessment first?
Have you been told you must have an ADHD or Autism assessment first?
Have you been refused CBT until you first receive a formal assessment and/or diagnosis for ADHD or autism? We know that CBT can be adapted for people who are neurodivergent, so there is no good reason a patient should be made to wait for OCD treatment.
Please provide details of what happened, including any approx dates.

Have you been offered a meaningful choice between online or in-person choice for CBT?
Have you been offered a meaningful choice between online or in-person choice for CBT?
When referring for therapy within Talking Therapy services (IAPT) were you given a meaningful choice about which treatment method you would prefer, either in-person or online? Many services are saying waiting times for in-person are many months longer than being offered online CBT, which of course is not a meaningful choice. This is frequently something we hear about within NHS Talking Therapy services (formerly IAPT).
Please provide details of what happened, including any approx dates.

In order for OCD-UK to influence change with the NHS, it can be incredibly useful to give examples of cases. Whilst we can provide your experiences as anonymous cases, it can sometimes be more powerful when we can provide names case examples. you answered any of the questions, are you happy for us to use your personal information to help us provide real life examples when presenting our evidence for change.
