OCD-UK Parent Project

Parent Q&A

We will be delivering a ‘Parent Q&A’ on Wednesday 6th May at 7:00 - 8:00pm. This event is open to any parent or caregiver of a child with OCD who is in the CAMHS age bracket (5-18). This event is specifically for parents and is not open for young people to attend. See below for more details:

For parents of children

This event is specifically for parents who have children in the CAMHS age bracket with OCD (ages 5-18)

OCD-UK hosts

This event will be hosted by two of the OCD-UK team members who have lived experience of OCD

Panel of parents

The Q&A panel will consist of 6 parents who have lived experience of parenting a child with OCD. The volunteers, whose children are now in recovery from OCD, will share their advice and experiences to those who are still navigating the most challenging parts of parenting a child with OCD

Questions

Unlike our support groups, this event will not include attendees sharing experiences, but instead gives the attendees the opportunity to ask the panel of OCD-UK staff and volunteers questions and advice relating to parenting a child with OCD

Zoom

This event will take place on zoom, and you can register by scrolling down the page and clicking the ‘register now’ button at the bottom of the page

If you do not have a Zoom account, please click here to go to Zoom and register for a free  account.

Q&A box

The chat box will be disabled for this event, and questions will be asked through the dedicated Q&A function on zoom. OCD-UK hosts will explain how to ask questions and where to access the Q&A box on the day

Pre-existing questions

The Q&A box will be available throughout the whole session to ask questions on the day, but we will also send a form out to all attendees approximately 1 week before the event to gather any questions people intend to ask during the session

Pre-event webinar

We encourage all attendees who are new to learning about OCD to watch an ‘Introduction to OCD for parents’ presentation before attending. This is not essential, but if you are new to learning about OCD it can help you to be on the same page as others who are attending. Click here to watch

Confidentiality

We take confidentiality seriously at OCD-UK, and anything shared with us will not be shared elsewhere. This session will not be recorded, as anything shared with us will stay within the session. There will also be the option to ask questions ‘anonymously’ and we will talk through how to do this on the day

Cameras

As attendees will not be sharing or asking questions over the microphone, it is completely their choice whether they have their camera on. We welcome cameras on throughout the session, as it helps for our volunteers to see who they are speaking to, but this is not mandatory and people may choose to attend with cameras off if they wish to
