TCS London Marathon FAQs
All OCD-UK runners will be sent a running top for training pictures and to help illustrate your fundraising page content. This will be sent out within two weeks of your registration fee being paid.
Nearer the time of the event (February 2027) we will send you out a second running top ready for marathon day itself.
We’ll support you through every step of your marathon journey, with our fundraising team giving you lots of direct one-to-one support with fundraising.
These are just some of the ways we will support you:
- Fundraising Pack including our fundraising guide
- Email updates
- Access to our exclusive Strava London Marathon group – introduce yourself to the rest of the runners, you are all one big family by when it comes to the big day!
- A free OCD-UK running vest or t-shirt for training
- A free OCD-UK running vest or t-shirt for marathon day
- An invite to our London Marathon training webinar meeting so you can meet other runners and hear from previous OCD-UK London Marathon runners.
- A cheer point on the day somewhere around the Marathon route to help motivate you towards the finish line
- Dedicated support from the OCD-UK Team
- Complimentary copies of the OCD-UK magazine during 2026 and 2027
Charity Gold Bond places: We ask all our Charity Gold Bond place runners to raise a minimum of £2,500 for their TCS London Marathon place. For those that raise even more than this and exceed £2,650, you will be entered into a prize draw and sent an OCD-UK soft shell jacket.
Ballot own places: We thank you for choosing to run for OCD-UK, and we don't set any fundraising amount for you to raise, every penny you can fundraise will help us. You will also be entered into any prize draw and sent an OCD-UK soft shell jacket for reaching set fundraising targets.
We do ask that you take the minimum sponsorship seriously, but if you are worried about hitting the minimum sponsorship target we are here to help!
We will support you every step of the way and will help give you lots of ideas to make sure you are on track with your fundraising! We do ask that your first donations are received by 1 February 2027 but don’t require the full £2,250 until 1 July 2027, so we would encourage you to continue fundraising after the event as we know up to 20% of donations are made at this time.
OCD-UK do pay several hundred pounds for each Gold Bond place, so it's important that you do fundraise towards your target to help us cover our costs and raise money towards our good cause work. If the Charity doesn’t receive any funds from you by 1st February 2026, we reserve the right to remove your details from The London Marathon registration console and withdraw your place. This will only happen with prior warning or unless agreed otherwise.
We recommend using online fundraising pages for The TCS London Marathon, this ensures the charity receives funds in a timely and efficient way using a secure platform.
The official fundraising partner for the Event is Enthuse which we encourage to use for a seamless transition with the London Marathon app and website. Some runners also choose to use JustGiving as an alternative, with both platforms having the same transaction fees.
At this time we encourage you to use the official event partner, Enthuse.
The following link will allow you to create a JustGiving fundraising page specifically for your 2027 London Marathon.
Because all of the OCD-UK runners will have both different start times, and different starting locations it will not be possible to arrange for all runners to meet for a group photograph.
Runners are welcome to share their start times/pens and if others are in the same start wave, you may be able to say hello to each other and share photographs.
At the moment there is no plan to, but if that changes we will communicate to runners nearer the marathon.
Our experience at the 2026 marathon suggested after the race, runners primarily want to find family/friends and head home, or head straight to the nearest pub!
OCD-UK do not send these out. The race organisers (the London Marathon) want runners to collect from the TCS London Marathon Running Show, which will be held at the ExCeL Centre, London in the days before the London Marathon (usually the Wed-Sat).
Collection: To collect your race number you will need photographic ID and your QR code sent to you via email when you complete your registration with the event organisers.
If you are unable to collect it in person, you can ask someone to collect it on your behalf as long as you provide them with the appropriate documentation as outlined by the TCS London Marathon event organisers.
On the day you can leave the draw string bag provided at TCS London Marathon Running Show at the start area in specific lorries, and that will be transported for you to the finish area ready for you to collect after you cross the finish line. Pack some comfy shoes and warm clothes in your bag drop so you can have these at the end of the marathon too.
On the day you will need your shorts and OCD-UK running top, and any hydration vest you are wearing. Remember, there is a good chance you can also be waiting at the start for a long time, and depending on the weather some runners choose to layer and wearing clothing they discard near the start area. Any such clothing discarded will not be returned and may be donated to charities. Remember to check the pockets before discarding clothing.
No, we know that every runner goes at a different pace. However, the event organisers advise that runners will only be eligible for a medal and to feature in the results if they complete the course before the official cut off time. The official cut off time is eight hours from the moment the final participant crosses the start line at 11:30. The Finish Line closes at 19:30 on The Mall, and is then moved to St James’s Park until 23:59:59.
If it becomes apparent it will not be possible for you to reach the Finish Line before midnight, a sweep vehicle will collect you and transport you to St James’s Park to collect your kitbag.
Of course, if you feel that you are unable to take part, please do let us know as soon as possible.
Gold Bond place: If you have a Gold Bond place you must advise us ASAP that you are withdrawing. Because the place belongs to OCD-UK, we have to be the ones to withdraw you and we may be able to offer this place to another runner. So let us know if you are no longer able to take part.
Your own ballot place: if you wish to defer your ballot place, you must complete the deferral process as laid out by London Marathon organisers. Please visit the event website to find out full details and don't forget to let us know so we can update our register of runners, although we’d still love you to run for us the following year if you are able to defer for a year.
