Exposure with response prevention (ERP) is one of the most effective strategies for overcoming obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), but it can be challenging to start, to advance, and to endure the distress, for good reason! In this talk we will review the reasons ERP can be challenging and discuss strategies for overcoming these difficulties.

About the speaker

Professor Christine Purdon
Dr. Purdon is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Waterloo in Canada and is a Registered Psychologist. She has been studying and treating obsessions and compulsions for over two decades. Dr. Purdon has published 90+ research articles and book chapters on understanding and treating OCD, and a self-help book entitled Overcoming Obsessive Thoughts, co-authored with Dr. David A. Clark.
