The parent project is back!

OCD-UKArticle (Cat)

In 2019, OCD-UK secured funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to deliver a project specifically designed for parents who have children with OCD. This project involved delivering in-person educational workshops to parents across different cities and towns within the East Midlands Region.  The project was independently evaluated, and we were able to look at what worked and what we could do differently in the future. We used these findings to apply for an extension and have now been funded by the National Lottery Community Fund for another three year project for parents.

The project is specifically designed for parents who have children between the ages of 5-18 which is the CAMHS age bracket (Child and Adolescence Mental Health Services) and as such, the information and content delivered within this project will be specifically designed to be relevant for parents of children with OCD who are aged 5-18 (i.e. CAMHS age).

Over the next three years, we will be delivering both in-person and online full day workshops for the parents. The online workshops we deliver will make it more accessible to those who are unable to physically attend an in-person event for various reasons, however, we will also be expanding the geographical reach of the in-person workshops we deliver. We will be covering various locations across the East Midlands as well as locations in the north and south of England. The content we deliver in the online workshops will be replicated to mirror how we deliver our in-person events to ensure parents who attend online events are able to access the same content and structure.

We hope that the workshops will help to improve parents’ understanding of OCD, create an improved support network for parents, and to give them practical solutions to help to improve the relationships and communication between them and their children.

The planning stages of this project will begin in January 2024, and more information will be shared in due course. If you have any questions regarding our new parent project, or if you are a parent and would like to be added to our mailing list for when we have more details for online or offline workshops, please email
